ESG Data &Tech Summit London 2024 to Shine Light on Changing Industry

What a difference a year makes.

As A-Team Group prepares for its third annual ESG Data and Tech Summit London in May, we find ourselves at a pivotal moment in the evolution of sustainable market data.

In March 2022, we were anticipating momentous change. After years of growth in sustainable markets, participants were braced for a slew of new regulations and technologies to be unleashed. Over the following 12 months that happened: the EU rolled out its most ambitious data-reporting regulation yet and artificial intelligence (AI) especially generative AI (GenAI) began to transform everything from analyses to reporting processes.

It’s fair to say, too, that challenges to perceptions of ESG intensified. Investors continued to demonstrate their belief in the value of ESG portfolio strategies and hunkered down on their climate risk evaluations. But a palpable sense of pushback emerged as attacks from prominent US politicians and legal challenges to green initiatives and markets sent a chill through the ESG space.

Nevertheless, the data and tech sector remained in greater demand than ever before. Vendors and developers were kept busy as investors sought new streams of data to manage their response to the rising awareness of challenges posed by biodiversity loss, water stress and social upheaval. And financial institutions sought more help in managing the ever-increasing volumes of data available to them.

High-Level Speakers

Whatever happens from here will have huge implications for data and technology sectors that enable and power it. It’s in this milieu of new competing (and sometimes complimentary) forces within sustainability markets that A-Team Group’s ESG Data and Tech Summit will be held.

The full day of events on May 16 will examine the state of play within the ESG data, tech and regulatory space and look to what we might expect over the next 12 months. Our fireside conversation with a key figure in ESG data, keynote addresses and panel discussions with leading market practitioners will give attendees the most holistic snapshot of the ESG data and tech space.

Opening a packed agenda, the Summit will kick off with a Practitioner Innovation Keynote Fireside Chat whose theme will focus on the biggest technological development within the financial world: Leveraging AI for ESG Insights. J.P. Morgan Asset Management ****head of ESG and quant technology Nirav Shah will offer his insights into this fast-changing and potentially game-changing development.

Panel discussion points will take in everything from new data sources entering institutions’ systems, best practices for data management and the outlook for regulations, particularly in Europe.

Among the industry figures lined up to speak are Sabine Dittrich**,** head of EU financial regulation at Slaughter & May; Helen Krause, head of data science insights at Citi; Monica Filkova, climate and nature investment strategy lead at Aviva; and, Barrie Ingman, legal counsel, head of regulatory developments at Mizuho Bank.

Pressing Themes

In a year when the outcomes of elections in key jurisdictions, including the US and UK, could dictate the evolution of sustainability markets, the Summit will take in the growing impact of geopolitics and the likely course of the global economy.

The Summit will also consider emerging drivers of change in the form of private markets, whose need for ESG data is expanding as they deepen their investments in sustainable assets and companies. The growing awareness of the importance of nature in decision making will be tackled too.

Throughout the day there will be keynote presentations from data and services vendors, among them S&P Global Market Intelligence, one of the event’s Platinum Sponsors. There will also be opportunities to network with peers, customers, suppliers and Summit Sponsors.

There’s still time to register your attendance. Visit the Summit website to book your place.
