While London’s weather may not make for exciting summer activities, we’re getting mildly animated at the prospect of pulling together the programme for our Data Management for Risk, Analytics & Valuations conference in London on October 17.

Ages away? Hardly. Get the bank holiday weekend out of the way and it’s just a month to go, more or less.

So we’re already talking to sponsors, panellists and presenters about the hot topics we think we should be discussing in this super-hot area of the financial technology business. If you’re reading this, you’ll be hearing from us about registering very soon, and I urge you to come along.

The raison d’etre for the event stems from the launch last year of Risk-Technology.net and of our Valuations Benchmarking survey, and builds on our core Reference Data Review publication, which has been agonising over data management challenges in financial markets for almost a decade.

We’re current recruiting keynote speakers to present on the business and technology challenges of data management currently facing financial institutions. We’ll also be running two morning sessions to mirror these themes: the Impact of Incoming Regulations on Enterprise Data Requirements, and the Technology Challenges of Building an Enterprise Data Infrastructure.

Got something to say? Get in touch.

In the afternoon, we’ll be running two drill-down sessions. The first focuses on implications for risk management: Data Collection, Normalisation and Orchestration for Risk Management. This topic reflects the many conversations we’ve been having with risk market practitioners, and hits at the heart of the data management challenge they face.

The second drill-down will look at analytics, with a slant toward figuring out how firms are Integrating Data for High-Compute Enterprise Analytics. Once again, the complexity of today’s financial institution is making holistic business intelligence difficult to achieve. I’ll be joined by Sybase’s Stuart Grant and others on the panel to talk about challenges and options.

Concurrently, we’ll be running a series of afternoon workshops focusing on valuations. As part of this series, we’ll be reporting on our efforts to benchmark the marketplace for evaluated pricing services. We’ll be joined by SIX Telekurs, which will be running its own workshop focusing on this area of the business.

Finally, I’ll be moderating a late-afternoon panel on emerging Big Data technologies and the big opportunities they present in the capital markets space. Current themes up for discussion are grid computing, cloud computing, unstructured data management, visualisation and market surveillance.

What are we missing? Get in touch and let us know. Better yet, get involved.
