ITRS Continues Infrastructure Monitoring Expansion with OP5 Purchase

ITRS Group’s acquisition of OP5, a Swedish provider of IT monitoring and log analysis technology, continues its move to shore up its trading infrastructure offering coming on the heels of a recent partnership deal with Velocimetrics and its May purchase of capacity analysis specialist Sumerian.

OP5 specialises in helping firms to control and monitor their IT configurations using technology built on open-source software from Nagios/Naemon and ElasticSearch, Logstash & Kibana (ELK). The company, which has more than 600 clients across data centre operators, telcos, automotive companies and financial services, helps provides greater scalability, APIs for controlling the software and its configuration, and enhanced visualisation of the data.

According to ITRS, the purchase of OP5 “follows ITRS’ strategy to build, buy and partner to deliver smart, automated and predictive end-to-end monitoring solutions for increasingly complex IT estates across industries. This development follows the successful acquisition of Sumerian, and partnerships with Apica and Velocimetrics to offer capacity planning, synthetic monitoring, load testing and real-time business insight.”

Guy Warren, CEO at ITRS, says: “ITRS and OP5 will continue to independently focus on their respective core markets while adding value to customers in areas such as capacity planning, network monitoring, log analysis and big data storage and analytics. This allows us to leverage our investment in R&D across a larger market and customer base.”

OP5 will remain and operate as a separate brand and entity, fully owned by ITRS Group, with Jonas Vestin remaining as CEO of OP5 and joining the senior leadership team of ITRS Group.

ITRS appears to be bolstering its capabilities to address the growing appetite for infrastructure monitoring among financial markets institutions, many of which see benefits beyond operational efficiency. ITRS’s partnership with Velocimetrics to give users of its ITRS Geneos real-time monitoring solution the ability to independently trace and analyse the real-time performance of every trade as it is processed and improve operational resilience, offering business intelligence around client and counterparty behaviour.

Last month, long-established latency measurement specialist Corvil launched its Intelligence Hub, which extracts data from Corvil analytics appliances at every stage in the trading lifecycle to give firms insight into client order behaviour, enhanced transparency into trade performance, and improved compliance through risk management.
