State Street Global Advisors (SSgA), the investment management business of State Street Corporation (NYSE:STT) today announced two senior additions to its Fundamental Equity team in Ireland. The new appointments will support a growing team based in Dublin and headed by Chris Johns, global chief investment officer, Active Fundamental Equities.

Jeremy James joins as senior research analyst (covering global financials) from Pioneer Investments in Dublin. Mark Prentice, formerly of Goldman Sachs Asset Management in London has been appointed senior research analyst focussing on financial statement analysis and corporate engagement.

At Pioneer, Jeremy was a senior equity analyst, where he covered financials for nearly 12 years. He also spent time as head of European Research and head of the Global Financials team. Prior to joining Pioneer in 1999, Jeremy worked for the Smith & Williamson Group in London for 15 years, where he was Group Investment Director for the last five years.

Mark Prentice has worked as a forensic accountant at Goldman Sachs Asset Management over an eight year period from 2003 to 2011. He had previously worked in the Forensic Accounting departments of both Ernst & Young and PwC in London.

Commenting on both appointments, Rick Lacaille, global chief investment officer said: “When we acquired Bank of Ireland Management (BIAM), SSgA committed to expanding our range of actively managed strategies to include fundamental equity management and we are very pleased with progress to date.  We believe that the combination of SSgA’s existing relationships with institutional investors together with the active management competence of SSgA Ireland augers well for sustainable, value-driven growth. Jeremy and Mark join us with solid experience and will play a key role in supporting this effort.”

SSgA recently confirmed expansion of its core investment teams of cash management, fixed income and passive equity with the addition of five key investment professionals.
