LakeFrontData Consulting Adds EDM Capability Assessments and Managed Data Service Vendor Evaluations Services

Following the launch of its jobs website last week, LakeFrontData Consulting has added two new data management consulting services to its consultancy services offering. The firm has created enterprise data management (EDM) capability assessments and managed data service vendor evaluations, which it says are aimed at providing clients with a holistic view of their requirements.

According to LakeFrontData, the EDM capability assessments examine a client’s data initiatives and projects, thus producing a rating, a gap analysis and a roadmap to achieve the planned future state that meets business needs for reference and pricing data. The approach includes design and implementation of data management technology, data architecture, data model, data quality, operations, infrastructure and supporting governance, says the firm. Marc Odho, managing director and partner at the firm, explains the rationale: “In the end, our overarching goal is to help clients develop a holistic solution, encompassing technology, content, processes, governance and quality, that best meets the needs of their business.” The evaluation of managed data services vendors is based on a similar approach: looking at the services provided relative to a client’s needs. It is aimed at supporting a client’s decision making process based on client criteria and comparative alternative solution analysis, says the firm. Rob Ord, director and partner at LakeFrontData Consulting reckons firms contemplating using managed data service solutions often need help in determining which commercial offerings, if any, suit their data management needs best. “Whether it is security master reference, historical time series or research data sourcing, management and distribution, it is imperative to understand where a vendor’s strengths lie,” he adds.
