Estates and Infrastructure Exchange Selects Aquis Technologies Solutions

The Estates and Infrastructure Exchange (EIE) has selected Aquis Technologies, a division of Aquis Exchange, to supply solutions and services including a trading front end, the Aquis matching engine (AME), the Aquis market surveillance (AMS) solution, including a first-line surveillance service, as well as market operations and post-trade tools and services. The matching engine and surveillance solution will be hosted in the cloud.

The EIE, which is aiming to become a registered investment exchange, is an innovative infrastructure trading platform designed to create a bridge between billions of underinvested capital and thousands of globally unfunded projects. The exchange was launched last year and works with governments, landowners, universities and energy and transport companies to package and fund major development, regeneration and construction projects as bonds. The exchange matches the bonds with professional investors, offering them the ability to buy and sell infrastructure bonds on a risk-adjusted basis. The projects on the exchange will be available as liquid tradable debt and equity style instruments.

Mike Blakey, chief operations officer at EIE, says: “Having looked across the spectrum of potential suppliers, we felt Aquis was the best fit for us in terms of our requirements for building an exchange from the bottom up. Its products are second to none and its experience as a start up with the launch of the Aquis Exchange multilateral trading facility (MTF) in 2013, means it can give us useful guidance and advice. Its flexibility will also support our 2018 development plans.”

Magnus Almqvist, head of technology sales at Aquis, adds: “Aquis Technologies offers a full suite of products and services that are cost-effective, flexibly and highly performant, making it an ideal partner for a new exchange.”
