DST Global Solutions, a provider of business solutions and services to the global investment management industry, has today announced the appointment of Edward Dumas to spearhead its Risk Management Solutions in North America.

Dumas joins DST Global Solutions from Manzanita Advisors where he served as President and was responsible for the corporation’s strategic focus, customer outreach, and oversight of operations. Prior to that, Dumas was senior vice president and head of quantitative research and analysis for finance and senior director of global treasury risk management at State Street Corporation. Dumas was also a member of the Corporation’s Asset Liability Committee (ALCO) and Chair of the Conduit Pricing Committee. He created valuation and risk measurement models for complex derivatives transactions, and models and policies to measure and manage interest rate and foreign exchange risks.

Prior to joining State Street, Dumas was senior vice president and chief risk officer at the Federal Home Loan Bank of Boston, where he was responsible for developing and maintaining comprehensive processes for enterprise-wide risk management and ensuring that risk limits were appropriate for the nature and complexity of the bank’s business activities. Among his other professional activities, Dumas was director of Capital Markets Analytics at FleetBoston Financial, and he was a principal contributor to supervisory policies for financial derivatives and other trading and risk management activities for national banks at the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC).

Dumas will be responsible for strengthening DST Global Solutions’ risk solution in North America and will provide subject matter expertise for risk management to the region. Speaking about his appointment, Dumas commented: “I am delighted to be joining DST Global Solutions at such an important time within the risk management discipline. Recent market events have highlighted how invaluable it is for organisations to have sophisticated tools to calculate and analyse risk exposures. DST Global Solutions’ investment in research and development for risk management products, such as the Askari offering, demonstrates their commitment to meeting the risk management needs of their clients. I look forward to joining DST Global Solutions’ world class team in support of their risk management solutions in North America.”

Dumas will report to Jill Douglas, global head of risk solutions for DST Global Solutions. Commenting on the new appointment, Douglas said: “Asset managers are increasingly looking to strengthen their approach to risk management by fostering a culture more focused on risk and by implementing tools to help them more effectively manage risk within their organisations. To help meet this need we have created a centre of excellence with highly qualified individuals operating across the globe to provide thought leadership in these areas. We are extremely pleased to be bringing Ed on board to help meet the needs of our North American clients.”
