DPC DATA Adds New Location in Philippines for Securities-Related Data Outsourcing

DPC DATA has launched a new facility in metropolitan Manila to support growth in its data outsourcing business. A vendor of securities data, DPC DATA also provides offshore data management services. The new location brings greater capacity for data processing, strategic knowledge process outsourcing (KPO) and custom IT development, it reckons.

The new location is the home of DPCDATA (Philippines) Inc, a subsidiary of DPC DATA Inc, formed in partnership with Noypips Inc, a minority share holder in the operation. Julius Gorospe, a business advisor and entrepreneur in the Philippines, has been appointed president and CEO of DPCDATA (Philippines).

“We started working with an outsourcing company (Noypips) in the Philippines in February 2006,” says Peter Schmitt, CEO of DPC DATA. “We started small with them and our plan was to decide within a 24 month period whether we would either make a more substantial and direct investment, or if we would leave the country and set up operations elsewhere. We soon discovered how perfectly suited the Philippines is for doing our kind of data work. We accelerated our plans and – with Noypips, our then outsourcing partner – established this Asian subsidiary.”

DPC DATA outsourcing projects have included analysis, cleansing, archiving and digital publishing of raw commercial data for a data vendor; data research and cleansing in support of a corporate actions database for a capital markets firm; conversion of final deal transcripts into searchable PDF formats for Wall Street law firms; collection of securities data from original source documents and reconciling it with global securities master data for a global funds evaluator; and distillation of offering documents into brief summaries for broker/dealers.

“Over 10 years, our outsourcing business has grown, quietly and organically, as customers have asked to take advantage of the offshore processing engine we established for managing our own data,” comments Schmitt.

DPC has previously formed a partnership with Perfect Information (Reference Data Review, February 2007) to aid with the launch of Perfect Search, and a strategic alliance with BondDesk (Reference Data Review, December 2006).
