Deutsche Postbank Financial Opts for Combo of Aim’s Gain and SIX Telekurs’ Data

Following a year filled with the signing of partnership agreements and the appointment of new hires, data management solution vendor Aim Software has started 2010 with a new client win in the form of German bank Deutsche Postbank Financial. The bank has opted for a combination of SIX Telekurs’ Valor Data Feed (VDF) to be delivered via Aim’s flagship solution Gain into its implementation of SunGard’s order management system Decalog.

According to Alexander Auer, head of solutions at SIX Telekurs, the two vendors conducted joint discussions with the German bank and the selection was made based on their track record of working together in the past. To this end, a number of wins last year for Aim were joint wins with the data provider, including Swiss bank Banque CIC in July and Banca Euromobilare in February . The appeal of Aim Software was also its “large client base as well as its experience in the integration of SIX Telekurs data into banking applications”, adds Auer.

Deutsche Postbank Financial Services decided to implement a new data management solution in order to cope with its growing demand for data processing and to improve data quality, says the vendor. The bank opted for an integrated approach to its data infrastructure and wanted a direct connection to be developed to its implementation of the Decalog front office tool.

Accordingly, Aim is currently working on an initial parameterisation of the Gain solution, which involves the normalisation and mapping of VDF data into the central data model of the platform. Following the completion of this work, Aim will work on the required adaptations to the Gain|Decalog interface in order to meet the bank’s specific data needs, explains Josef Sommeregger, vice president of business development and sales at the vendor.

Aim Software markets itself on the basis that it has a range of standards interfaces to a number of the common banking applications on the market such as SunGard’s Decalog. The idea behind this is to expedite implementation and save development costs, says Sommeregger. ”Growing demands in data processing require a fast implementation and further functionalities. Owing to its modularity and flexible architecture, Gain’s central data model will serve Deutsche Postbank Financial as a future proof tool permitting an easy step by step integration of additional functionalities and further sources,” he continues.

The Gain platform imports, processes and maps all requested data, thus creating new security records directly within Decalog within the space of a few minutes, explains Sommeregger. The solution also features the processing of daily mutation files from SIX Telekurs and the calculation of specific values required by the customer, which are derived from the raw data provided by SIX Telekurs.

Towards the end of last year, Aim Software added a number of new regional offices to its network in a bid to increase its customer base in continental Europe. The vendor added an office in France, Switzerland and one in Luxembourg  and Sommeregger indicated at the time that it was also keen to gain more traction in the German market. No doubt this early win for 2010 will be viewed as a positive sign of the potential of these markets this year.
