Bimcor Leverages Eagle for Daily Performance Results, Building on Centralised Data Hub

Canadian pension fund manager Bimcor has experienced improved data management and data analysis capabilities after streamlining processes using data management and performance solutions from Eagle Investment Systems. The firm has now completed a project to implement a range of Eagle technology which began in 2004.

Bimcor is a wholly owned subsidiary of BCE Inc and currently manages some $13 billion in pension fund assets. Substantially all of its existing clients are within the BCE Group of companies.

The Eagle solution consolidates Bimcor’s investment data into a single data hub, helping it to ensure it has accurate and consistent data to support its investment process and feed downstream systems. Bimcor uses the Eagle Portal, its web-based information delivery tool, to distribute investment and performance reports to its users.

The solutions were rolled out in a phased approach, with each phase containing specific milestones, according to the vendor. Bimcor first deployed Eagle’s data management solution, Eagle Pace, in 2004. During that implementation all of the required reference data and portfolio accounting (transactions, positions, cash activity) data was loaded into Eagle. In 2005, Bimcor deployed Eagle’s performance measurement system, Eagle Performance, and most recently it implemented the Eagle Portal.
Mal Cullen, the head of Eagle’s Canadian operations, reckons Bimcor has now achieved its two main goals from the project. “With Eagle’s data management solution they have moved to a daily pricing model and now have a centralised data repository,” he says. “With the success of the Eagle implementation, Bimcor can now proceed with their initiative of retiring certain legacy applications. Lastly, Bimcor is generating daily performance by using Eagle’s performance measurement solution,” Cullen adds.
