Joanne is currently Head of Data Governance for Hastings Direct, having moved over from Retail Banking into Insurance in July 2021. Her career to date has primarily been working in Financial Services working for Global and UK based financial organisations. Prior to specialising in Data Governance her responsibilities have included working on BAU and Project related developments in the day-to-day and long-term functions of data management primarily with the operations sector. She has spent much of her career ensuring data is treated as a valued asset. Joanne is an advocate for Data Governance, her work in organisations creates the foundations to allow data use to be proactive and efficient. By continually optimising value from data, She helps to create and build upon environments where data is no longer an unknown anomaly. Joanne helps organisations to trust their data, make accurate choices in both BAU and Change.

Ian has over 30 years’ experience working in the Financial Services industry, 25 of those within investment management. Starting in IT for a Lloyds insurance broker his career has included time at M&G and as a consultant with PwC’s investment management practice. His expertise covers new product launches, operational process redesign and management information systems as well as front office and distribution process, dataflow and system implementations. The last 18 years has been spent at Invesco where, most recently, he set up and continues to develop the Data Governance function and associated best practices.
Dennis Slattery

Dennis Slattery has been working in Data Management since 1990. He has held senior positions at project, programme and enterprise level and has successfully delivered data solutions for a wide variety of financial firms. He has seen how effective data management has delivered lower costs and greater flexibility to adapt to changing customer needs and regulatory requirements. He has devised a series of specialised financial data management courses to enable firms to manage data through the key disciplines of data strategy, architecture, design, development, testing, operations and governance. He is working with a consortium of leading global firms to implement financial data certification programmes to provide a development pathway for data professionals.
