Xenomorph Integrates TimeScape EDM+ with MarkLogic NoSQL Database

Xenomorph has extended the reach of TimeScape EDM+ by integrating the solution’s data management and analytics capabilities with the MarkLogic document-based NoSQL database. The integration allows use of the functionality of TimeScape EDM+, including ready-to-run data integration, cleansing, validation, audit, analysis and distribution, with the ACID – atomicity consistency isolation durability – compliant and scale out capabilities of the MarkLogic database.

This is Xenomorph’s second integration with a document database, the first being with MongoDB. The integration provides out-of-the-box TimeScape EDM+ interfaces to MarkLogic and allows both technical and business users to access, validate and analyse combined datasets.

Explaining Xenomorph’s tie up with MarkLogic, chief technical architect Chris Budgen says: “The integration of TimeScape EDM+ with the MarkLogic database continues our efforts to explore the benefits of NoSQL and scale-out SQL technologies for enterprise data management in financial markets. The combination of document and semantic storage within the MarkLogic database is an interesting fit with the TimeScape database model, enabling easy support of new asset classes through schema flexibility, combined with easy definition of relationships between different financial objects, such as those from a curve to its underlying data points.”

With many financial institutions considering the use of NoSQL databases offering extensive functionality around data management and MarkLogic already having a significant presence in large financial firms, Xenomorph CEO Brian Sentance expects the integration to be of interest to both existing MarkLogic users and Xenomorph users planning to implement a NoSQL database.

In addition to MarkLogic and MongoDB, Sentence says the company is looking at further integrations with other document databases. Other integrations already in place and allowing users to access data through consistent TimeScape EDM+ interfaces include Excel, business intelligence platforms such as Tableau and Power BI, and mathematical environments including Matlab and R.
