Thomson Reuters today announced two major enhancements to its pricing and reference data platform. DataScope Select will now deliver validated end of day prices within 30 minutes of market close and the introduction of a universal close price field. This is beneficial to US Mutual fund managers and administrators, as they will now be able to retrieve validated close price data at approximately 4:30 pm (EST), through a single universal close field, making it easier to meet their net asset value reporting requirements.

The enhancements to DataScope Select will provide clients superior and seamless integration into valuation and accounting platforms, optimizing the users pricing workflow which will simplify auditing and reduce costs. In addition this will improve exception-based processing which supports automation and reduces operational risk. The accurate and independent prices supplied through DataScope will enable mutual fund managers to hold news securities and pursue differentiation strategies.

Tim Rice, Global Head of Pricing and Reference Data, Thomson Reuters, said: “Thomson Reuters is committed to global fund valuation through enhancing our technology while continuing our broad focus to provide accurate, timely information to mutual fund clients and fund administrators. This performance enhancement to our technology further shows our commitment and dedication to providing the best timely information in support of our client’s market requirements.”

“In today’s volatile marketplace, fast access to premium-quality content is essential to ensure precise valuations and drive market strategies,” said Sang Lee, principal analyst and co-founder, Aite Group. “As operational risk concerns remain front-of-mind, mutual fund managers and administrators will look for technology platforms that can deliver a new level of transparency, value and consistency in pricing information to help meet auditing and reporting requirements and create greater opportunities for their clients.”
