SunGard Availability Services, the pioneer and leading provider of Information Availability and business continuity services, has today announced two significant promotions to its Senior Management Team to help expand its footprint in the UK and European markets. Mike Threlfall has been appointed to the newly created position of European, UK&I consulting and software director, while Pat Morley has been appointed to UK service delivery director.

As European, UK&I consulting and software director, Mike Threlfall will build upon his previous role as head of consulting and software to drive growth across SunGard’s consulting practice and to increase the penetration of its BCM software products in the UK and Europe. Threlfall’s 30 years’ experience in the IT industry ranges from product development and support through systems design, technical consultancy and, for the last 15 years, practice management for EMEA and Global operations for ICL/Fujitsu, Sun Microsystems and Avanade.  These skills will be invaluable to driving SunGard’s consulting and software services to align with the ever changing customer landscape.

The appointment of Pat Morley from head of product engineering to UK service delivery director also adds strength to SunGard’s UK operations. Morley has overall responsibility for the delivery of service across the UK’s 1.2 million sq ft of operations space which encompasses 4 fully-resilient data centres and in excess of 20 Workplace Recovery sites. Morley will be using his three decades of IT experience in both public and private businesses to address existing and anticipated customer requirements including the maintenance and development of both appropriate toolsets and real-estate.

Keith Tilley, UK managing director and executive vice president for Europe commented: “Both Mike and Pat have very strong track records of creating value, accelerating growth and driving change through highly collaborative teams. As more and more organisations realise the value business continuity and resilience planning can bring to their business, Mike and Pat’s vast experience with customers and partners will help us achieve our objective of being the IT solutions provider of choice to ensure the availability of our customers’ business operations.”

He continued: “A strong customer service focus continues to be vital for SunGard, as we work with our customers to help them find the right balance between their business, production and recovery priorities. We believe both Mike and Pat have the highly developed management skills needed to help our customers to anticipate and respond to the challenges they face.”
Both Threlfall and Morley report directly to Tilley.
