Allan Boardman, CISA, CISM, CGEIT, CRISC, CA (SA), CISSP, information risk manager at JP Morgan (UK), was appointed director of ISACA—a global association serving 95,000 IT governance, assurance and security professionals in 160 countries—at its World Congress: INSIGHTS 2011 conference in Washington DC, USA, today.

Founded in 1969, ISACA develops international standards for information systems auditing and control, provides education and training, and administers the Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), Certified in the Governance of Enterprise IT (CGEIT), and Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC) designations. Additionally, ISACA developed and continually updates COBIT, the internationally accepted framework for governance of enterprise IT.

“Allan has been a dedicated ISACA volunteer and has been a key contributor to the growth and success of ISACA’s certification program,” said Ken Vander Wal, CISA, CPA, who was elected international president of ISACA today. “His efforts on the ISACA Credentialing Board have resulted in strong, robust credentials that add value to IT professionals and their employers.”

Boardman began his career with Deloitte in Cape Town and has more than 30 years of experience in IT audit, risk, security and consultancy roles at companies such as JPMorgan Chase, Goldman Sachs, KPMG, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Marks and Spencer, and the London Stock Exchange. He is a past president of the ISACA London Chapter and has served on the British Computer Society’s Information Risk Management and Audit committee. He has also served on ISACA’s CISM Certification Committee (last two years as chair), the Credentialing Board and the Leadership Development Committee. He currently chairs ISACA’s Credentialing Board and is a member of its Strategic Advisory Council.

“Being associated with ISACA at both the chapter and international level has been very valuable to me, both professionally and personally,” said Boardman. “I have learnt a tremendous amount and met many interesting people, and I look forward to continuing to serve ISACA and its constituents.”

In addition to Boardman, one other director was appointed and seven other IT professionals were elected to ISACA leadership positions. Marc Vael, CISA, CISM, CGEIT, CISSP, chief audit executive at Smals (Belgium), was appointed director.
